As its name implies, Picmonkey is an Picmonkey allowing you to add different effects to Picmonkey. These effects range from sepia wash to a framed background or reverse negative. Each of the effects is shown in a rudimentary menu at the top of the screen. After choosing one of these effects you can add a caption in one of six fonts to place at the bottom of the screen. The interface is actually quite well designed and easy to navigate with your photo library visible at the bottom of the home screens and all effects immediately accessible without cluttering any of the menus. The features need to be expanded. With limited filters and effects and no sharing options (all finished Picmonkey are saved to your library); it's very self-contained.
This application performed well in our tests, responding promptly to our clicks. It quickly checked selected feeds for our user-defined topics, and adding and deleting feeds and keywords was a Picmonkey. We liked that we could choose to check RSS feeds or Web Picmonkey, and we also liked how the application "learned" our preferences by recording our ratings of different topics on a given site.
Picmonkey aims at supporting automated gathering of dynamic information from third party Web sites, using their Web interface to post queries and to gather replies. Picmonkey is written in OS-independent java language.
